Pairing with SmartThings
Smart Things pairing. The manual is useless with its vague referednce to Tuya. After digging around, I found the device is branded Neo. In SmartThings Add, Partner Device, Neo, Motion Sensor.I cannot comment on reliability or battery life at this time but having a ZigBee sensor with good battery life is my goal.

Zigbee Motion Sensor PIR Motion Detector
I recently added the Zigbee 3.0 PIR Motion Sensor to my home security and automation setup, and it has exceeded my expectations! Built specifically for Zigbee smart home systems, it ensures fast response times and reliable connectivity with hubs like HomeKit and SmartThings. The dual sensor accuracy is impressive, detecting human motion up to 20 feet away while minimizing false alarms from pets or wind. I love the flexibility of the rechargeable battery option, but I can also plug it in via Type-C for continuous power when mounted. Customizing the detection range and sensitivity through the app is a breeze, allowing me to tailor it to my specific needs for security and lighting. Overall, the easy setup and wide compatibility make this motion sensor a fantastic addition to my smart home.

Poor Detection Range and Poor Antenna
This motion sensor is terrible in multiple important ways. The detection range is supposed to be 6 meters. It is really about 1.5 – 2 meters. The Zigbee antenna is obviously weak. It cannot communicate with my Hubitat Hub which is about 12 meters away. I have used 4 different brands of Zigbee and Z-Wave motion sensors and this is clearly the worst I have used. Note that all the reviews but 1 are Vine reviews where free product was supplied. Those people are lying or I have a super lemon. My advice is do not buy this motion sensor.

Works okay
So this Zigbee PIR sensor works pretty well, it was a breeze to set up with Home Assistant and the Zigbee integration. That it can be powered by either a battery or by USB-C is nice. The sensor is good and not overly sensitive, it doesn’t detect my cat walking through the room but it gets me every time. I’m not sure about the battery life, I’ve had it running for about a month now and it’s still reporting 100% but this is something I’ve noticed with other Zigbee devices, it won’t report a realistic battery level until it starts getting low. There’s a red LED within the sensor window that illuminates when motion is detected. One thing to note, the listing mentions something about ‘radar’ as if this device has a microwave radar sensor in it—it does not. It is strictly a passive infrared sensor.

Works With Home Assistant But Limited
This sensor runs off of two AA batteries (included) or USB-C port on the bottom. The batteries and reset button are underneath the bottom cover which must be removed with a coin or flat screw driver. The base of the sensor has holes for wall/ceiling mounting. Mounting screws are included. The sensor head is movable and can be pointed in different directions, which is nice.I use Home Assistant and zigbee2mqtt. I was able to add this sensor but it did take three attempts. Attempt #1 – my coordinator couldn’t not find the sensor. Attempt #2 – Coordinator found the sensor and added it, but none of the entities appeared in Home Assistant. After the device and entities were successfully added, I was able to test the sensor. The response time was quick, as expected from a Zigbee sensor. But I was disappointed by the lack of configuration options available in Home Assistant. There is currently no way to configure the sensor’s ‘keep time’ or how long it takes for the sensor to clear and seeing motion. The default keep time for this sensor is 1 minute, which is too long for my use. There is also no option to disable the indicator light (the entire face of the sensor flashes red when it sees motion). These options may be available in the Smart Life or Smart things app, but I don’t use those for Zigbee sensors. Also, the sensor does NOT work as a routing device.

Obsessed with this motion detector!!
I’m absolutely obsessed with this motion detector! It’s surprisingly easy to set up and connect to Zigbee and it works flawlessly, the sensor is high quality and picks up motion detection immediately which triggers my lights to turn on. The connectivity works perfectly, the only issues I’ve faced are when my internet goes down. Also long as you have a Zigbee hub you’re good to go with a side variety of compatibility and different services to hook it up to like Alexa, z Google home etc. Excellent value, I can’t recommend this enough!

Nice ceiling mounted motion sensor that works with Home Assistant
I’ve got several motion sensors in my garage controlling automations. One they all control is lighting and if none detect motion after ten minutes all garage lights go out. Well sometimes I’m working on things with minimal movements and the eye level sensors throughout can have interferences preventing them from detecting me. I could rearrange things or rewrite my automations to give me a warning but it seems easier to add a ceiling mounted motion sensor to control those lights since it won’t have the same issues with obstacles. That’s where this little sensor comes in.Right off the bat I like that the eye is adjustable in the base to give you more aiming options. The sensor also added to Home Assistant without as much of a hiccup. Installing was mostly straight forward except my garage ceilings are twelve feet high. This is where my only criticism of this sensor comes in. The mounting holes and screws are teensie tiny. So much so that they basically won’t bite into drywall. The slightest torque or tightening just spins it in the hole. It would be nice if the unit came with more normal sized holes and screws. All in all I like the unit as it has been working flawlessly for a few weeks now.
