Solid smart hub that plays well with everything.
Setup was straightforward and the hub paired quickly with my Aqara devices. Matter support is the big win here and it works smoothly with Alexa Google Home and HomeKit without drama. Connections are stable and response time is fast which is what you want from a hub. The design is clean and low profile so it disappears on a shelf. Price feels fair for what it does and it future proofs the smart home nicely. If you are building or expanding a smart home this is a solid pick.

Solid Build and Good Hardware, but Limited Use Outside the Aqara Ecosystem
I had high expectations for the Aqara Hub M200 because on paper it supports Matter, Thread, Zigbee, and multiple platforms like Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home. From a hardware and build-quality perspective, the hub feels very solid and well made. Setup was smooth, and the hub was quickly detected on my network using Ethernet, which I appreciated.However, my experience became frustrating once I tried to use it with non-Aqara devices. I specifically tested Matter-enabled smart sockets that are advertised as compatible under the Matter standard. While the hub did recognize and successfully connect to these Matter sockets, the actual functionality was very limited. I was only able to use them in basic scenarios and automations, but I could not perform simple direct actions such as reliably scheduling on/off times without involving additional Aqara sensors or devices.This made the hub feel restrictive unless you are fully invested in the Aqara ecosystem. In my case, the Matter devices were recognized, but without Aqara-branded sensors, the usefulness was extremely reduced. Because of this, the hub didn’t deliver the level of control I expected from a Matter controller.Overall, the Aqara Hub M200 feels well-built and reliable, but in my experience it works best only if you plan to use mostly Aqara products. For mixed-brand smart homes, functionality may be more limited than expected.

Setup was really easy using POE, and no need for additional power plugs or cables. It is a bit larger than i thought it was going to be, but it is still compactThe IR blaster is great and smart how it detects when the remote is used to update the state of items.Plenty of options to connect devices from Matter, Thread and Zigbee. I will hopefully be able to replace a few hubs with this single one.The app works well and is easy to use even setting up devices is easy with Thread/Matter

Like most Aqara devices this seems to be a really high quality product.I have a bunch of aqara zigbee sensors that I’ve integrated with homeassistant, but was ready to try some matter thread devices given these are probably the way sensors are heading in future.The number of protocols this hub supports is really quite impressive, particularly allowing both zigbee, matter and thread (some of my matter devices are via wifi and some are via thread). It also works nicely with homekit which was helpful for me. Aqara seems to have committed to supporting homeassistant which is nice to see.The hub itself has QR codes to add it to the Aqara app, homekit and a sticker in the instructions manual for matter (I think it’s assumed you’d take it off and put it on the device). I’m not sure what would happen if you lost this QR code and needed to re-pair the hub. Best not to lose it.When I initially set it up, I was trying to find a free USB port to connect the hub to so it had power. Before I could find one, I was surprised to see that the ethernet’s PoE was enough to provide power as well! A single cable is all it needs if you have a PoE router which is fantastic.It has some voice prompts telling you it’s ready to connect or connected to the router. There are roundabout ways ofo changing some of these prompts via HA, only a few sounds are possible and it’s certainly not fully customizable. So while it would have been a nice addition, I don’t believe this will work as a smart speaker for homeassistant (and it lacks a microphone anyway).The hub did show up immediately on HA and I was easily able to add the matter and thread integrations. Still, I had a lot of trouble getting it to set up the first time. I tried doing it through the native aqara integration as well as via homekit on homeassistant. The homekit method seemed to work the best, although the instructions state it can be connected in other ways too. I just wasn’t able to do it yet.I haven’t found a use for the IR blaster, although I’m sure that is helpful for some older devices around the house.I also haven’t used the aqara app at all. I’ve installed this purely on homeassistant.One limitation I do see is the number of devices this hub can handle. If you have a lot of zigbee sensors around the house, you may run into the supported limit. I’m not there yet, but getting close.Overall this seems to be a nice basic matter over thread and zigbee hub with a few minor limitations. I’d get it again.

Simple de configuration, discret et performant. Le hic, c’est le temps de réflexion propre à l’automatisation. Et ça ce n’est pas le problème du hub, mais de mon cerveau ! Bref, un bon produit Aqara qui fonctionne très bien avec l’écosystème Apple Homekit. Très satisfait de cet achat.
