Used it in my Hot Tub
Good to know when there is a leak

Neat device. Appears to work.
Took 3 goes to connect on the Wi-Fi but got there eventually. Loud of course. Not tested with real smoke. The blurb says it’s ideal for various rooms including garage, but the voice hasn’t been programmed to say the word ‘garage’, (although it can say ‘workshop’), which is a bit disappointing so knocking off just half a star really.

Prevention is better than repair
After suffering the cost and inconvenience of a busted water trap pipe under my kitchen, I had to ensure that I am alerted when there is a sign of leaking before it gets to the point of saturation or flooding. The setup was easy and the app was not in another language which is great.Geeni makes other solid smart products which I had before, they work well with alexa and I have had them for a long time which made me trust that this sensor will do what it says it will do.I tested the alert with one drop of water and I got the alert on my phone (on my lock screen) and an audible alarm from the sensor itself which was not too loud being in an enclosed space, but with my TV on and other environmental audio, I was able to hear it.The app will alert you when the batteries are low and periodic testing is recommended but no necessary.2 aa batteries are not included but I also recommend at least a 4 pack rechargeable batteries so that you can extend the life and have a cycle of standby batteries per sensor.I plan to get more for the areas in my house that I am concerned about and at the price point, I can get more of these for my rental unit as well! Trust me, I hope you never need it, but when you do, it can be the difference between damage prevention vs damage control.

Water sensor
It works good the sensor part should be a little bit flattered to be able to detect water from basement floors that are uneven

Easy Set-Up – Tested Successfully
I have set this up and installed it near where the water is fed into our home by the water company. This area also houses my fuel oil tank. I’m hoping that this will alert for not only the water but the fuel oil if (heaven-forbid) that were to leak also. Testing after set-up worked well. I hope to never actually need it but having this extra layer of safety notification is a good feeling. NOTE: That the actual alarm itself is not loud enough to hear from a distance to paying attention to the notifications on your phone is crucial especially since I have this installed in a closed utility area in the basement. I would never here this upstairs in the sleeping quarters or other end of the house.

Alarm function works, but sensor doesn’t lay flat, and Wi-Fi connection is problematic
I keep water detector/alarms at all of my sinks, wash machine, and water heater. This alarm is not rated for a sound level, but it sounds similar to other alarms that I have that are 80 db. That is loud, but there ae some that are at 120 db.I have two problems with this particular alarm:1) This alarm has a separate sensor and control unit attached by a wire. Many other solutions have both together in one assembly. While moving the electronics away from where the water will be (by the sensor) sounds like a good idea, it creates another problem – the sensor is so small and attached to the wire that it doesn’t want to stay put in one place and doesn’t lay flat. There is a good chance that while in use the sensor will tilt and/or move and will not detect a leak as early as other detector styles.2) I am unable to connect to the sensor over Wi-Fi. I have downloaded the app and followed the instructions repeatedly, but I simply cannot get this to work with the app. The app will find the alarm, it is just unable to connect. I’ve tied changing all sorts of settings on my Android phone as directed by the software, but it still doesn’t work.

A little peace of mind
I’ve lived through the nightmare of finding a leaking water heater days late. It would be nice to know there’s a leak immediately. This little gadget has me sleeping a little better. Any contact with water, even a damp finger, and the alarm sounds and the app alerts you, including on your Apple Watch. The alarm isn’t very loud and it’s in a closet in the basement, so I don’t know if I would notice it from, say, the kitchen, so the app is crucial. It was easy enough to setup, but you do need your phone connected to 2.4 GHz WIFI, because this sensor doesn’t support 5 GHz. I have a 2.4 GHz SSID enabled for my IOT devices, so no issues there. I do wish the wire was longer than 3’ and the sensor was weighted, because it doesn’t want to sit flat on the floor. I had to train the wire a little to get it to behave. The app is easy to use, but irritatingly offered up a “notification” offering a deal on cloud storage just moments after configuring the sensor. Annoying!
