Faulty unit (battery + random freezes), but outstanding 5-star customer service & support
I’m extremely frustrated with this monitor. I researched a lot before buying because I needed a reliable second screen to work while traveling. The reviews were great and it seemed almost too good to be true. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what it turned out to be.Pros: The screen size is excellent and the image quality is great for my use case. The built-in stand is flexible and easy to position. It’s very thin and portable. It can also get very bright, which is helpful. It comes with all the cables you need, and I like that it offers both wireless use and HDMI connection.Cons: The biggest issue is the battery. From the beginning it lasted only a couple of hours, but now it basically doesn’t hold a charge at all. Even when I use it plugged in, the battery still keeps dropping. I’m using a fast phone charger that charges all my other devices quickly, so this shouldn’t be happening. Tried using their cable (which is a USB-C to USB-C, same as the one I use) just to make sure, but also, not enough.On top of that, when using it wirelessly, the screen randomly freezes. There’s no clear pattern or reason. The only way to fix it is to disconnect and reconnect, which is really disruptive while working or watching something. The screen freezes and it sometimes takes a while for you to tell that that scene should have changed a while ago lol.I bought this mainly to use wirelessly, since at home I already have a monitor that requires HDMI. If the wireless mode isn’t reliable and the battery can’t hold up, the product doesn’t make sense for my needs.This was a lot of money for me (I don’t live in the US), and I truly thought I was paying for a reliable product. I even bought an expensive protective case because I expected to keep it long-term. Now I’m not in the US anymore so I can’t return it, and I’m hoping I can at least go back to the US so I can claim the warranty in the next couple of years.UPDATE (Dec 22, 2025): After my initial 1-star review, HotYeah’s support team reached out immediately. They were incredibly professional and acknowledged that my unit likely had a power management defect. Since I am currently outside the US and couldn’t easily return it, they provided a full refund without requiring a return and even offered a free replacement for my next trip to the US.While the specific unit I received had issues, the company’s commitment to their 12-month warranty is genuine. I am changing my rating from 1 to 4 stars because of this excellent level of accountability. If you have issues, contact them – they truly stand behind their product, which I still think has great potential.
