SPECIFICATIONSPECIFICATION

✓ Backlit LCD Display: The watt meter features an upgraded backlit LCD display with a 160° wide viewing angle, providing clear and distinct data readings from any angle, day or night. (Note: To conserve energy, the backlight will automatically turn off after 15 seconds of continuous use.)
✓ 9 Types of Data Display: This energy meter plug accurately monitors a wide range of electrical parameters, including power (W), apparent power (VA), energy consumption (kWh), usage time (hours), power frequency (Hz), power factor (PF), voltage (V), current (A), and electricity cost. The user-friendly interface allows you to easily read and navigate through 9 types of data with a single button.
✓ Save Money and Energy: By toggling through the 9 display modes, you can gain insights into various operational parameters of your devices. The home energy monitor also calculates and displays the electricity consumption and cost over time, helping you save on your electricity bills by monitoring and managing energy usage.
✓ Data Storage: The plug-in electricity meter stores all non-real-time data, ensuring no information is lost in the event of a sudden power outage. If data exceeds the screen’s maximum display range, the screen will flash as a reminder. Pressing and holding the reset button for 3 seconds will reset the cumulative data to zero.
✓ Safe to Use: Rated voltage 125VAC, 60Hz, 15A maximum 1875W resistor and tungsten wire, 1/2HP. Clean and tidy interface, very simple to use.

Accurate, Easy to Use, and Super Handy
I bought this watt meter plug to monitor my appliances’ real power consumption and it does the job perfectly. Setup was super simple: just plug it in, reset it, and it instantly shows voltage, wattage, and kilowatt-hour readings on a clear blue backlit screen. The display is bright and easy to read even in dim lighting. What I really like is how responsive it is it updates power usage in real-time and helps me see which devices are draining energy. The buttons feel sturdy, and it even calculates cost per kWh, which is great for tracking electric bills. If you’re into saving energy or just want to know what’s eating up your power, this little gadget is worth it. Works right out of the box no Wi-Fi, no app hassle, just plug and play.

Very good, simple to use equipment to determine electrial loads
I used this Watt Meter to determine loads for a generator, plugging it in between a generator and couple of space heaters to determine wattage and loads. There are several settings to choose and it worked perfectly. The blue-lit LCD is large and easy to read under all light conditions. It can be easily used to determine the real wattage any appliance is using. Simple, efficient, and fairly well priced.

    Good meter
I can’t attest for the accuracy as I don’t have the equipment to do that. Otherwise, It’s a nice device, works as expected, has enough functions. What I needed was a Kilowatt-hour (energy) probe so I could identify what device is hogging my energy bill. I managed to do that so I’m happy with the product.

Backlight not very effective in bright environments.
2025-07-27. Watt meter plug by HBN. Backlight. Electricity usage monitor. Electricity usage tester. 9 display modes. Voltage. Amps. Wattage. This is advertised as an electricity usage monitor, but I can’t see any real practical use for that purpose. So you know how much electricity your appliances are using, and you can even calculate the costs, now what? I suppose if you’re on a really tight budget, you can cut off using electricity, but rather than cutoff something we essentially need for sustenance, I’d recommend you trim the budget elsewhere, carpool and share the costs of fuel, or eat out less, but don’t cut off your power. Of course this doesn’t mean you should leave all your lights on all the time, save where you can. If you’re not in that room, turn off the lights, set your TV on a timer in case you fall asleep, or change your bulbs to energy efficient LED ones.So why did I order this? Well, I use it to test the capability of other devices. I already own a USB A/C wall block that is supposed to be capable of delivering “Fast Charging” which is technically 18W or greater (up to 100W). Wattage is a simple formula of Volts × Amps. My charging block is capable of up to 25W and I wanted to test that it would indeed draw more than 18W.Usage is super easy, it’s essentially “plug n play” meaning all you need to do is plug it in and turn it on (if applicable). This unit does have some settings, but I was interested in the wattage, so that’s the one I had set it to display. After plugging the unit it, it instantly powered itself on and setting the display was as easy a push of a button. The one notable I have really is the display itself. It does have a blue backlit LED but this is both good and bad. It’s good in the sense that if you’re in a dark place, the illumination will make it easier to read; however, the opposite effect is also true in lit environments. I had the light turned on and at certain angles, it was not so easy to read (see pics). This could have been easily combatted by a button for the light, but the good news is that the backlit LED display will turn itself off after about 5 seconds. Again, there’s a flipside to this, and that’s if you want it to stay on because you didn’t quite read the readout yet. There’s not much else to this unit, it can display Volts, Amps, and Wattage, which is what I really wanted it for, so it’s very functional for my needs. The controls are very simple and easy to use with its plug n play interface, and the unit feels solidly built.

Its features and price are incredible
I have had a Kill-A-Watt meter for many years, but now I can’t find it. So I started looking for a new one. The Kill-A-Watt brand is now quite expensive. After considering the alternatives, I ordered the HBN Watt Meter, which features nine display modes. I was primarily interested in learning how much electricity various appliances consume. This meter allows you to set the price of your electricity and measure over time to see what you pay for each time period (such as an hour) of use.It also measures power factor. The power factor in electrical systems is a measure of how efficiently incoming electrical power is used, defined as the ratio of real power (used for actual work, measured in kilowatts) to apparent power (total supplied, measured in kilovolt-amperes) in an AC circuit. A high power factor (close to 1) means most of the power is being effectively used for work, with minimal losses. A low power factor means that more current is required for the same amount of work, resulting in energy losses, wasted capacity, and typically higher utility costs, especially for industrial customers.Plus, the device costs less than the alternative watt meters.Watts not to like (pun intended).

Check if your PC needs an upgraded power unit
So a family member decided to buy a monster graphics card and shoe horn it into a mini tower. There was concern if the power unit needed to be upgraded from 500W to 650W for those intense gaming moments. The HBN power meter solved that debate. It is easy to use, plug in the wall and you don’t need the instruction manual find out how to select different functions. And guess what, the meter said total power was under 200W, so I guess we can use 2 monster graphics cards 🙂

This power meter is advertised as having a backlight. Something that I noted when making my original purchase. Unfortunately this was misleading and the unit does not have a backlight at all. So, be sure to place it in a very bright room.My Klein Tools multimeter has my voltage when everything is running at exactly 119V. This meter has it at 122V. I dug up an old oscilloscope and confirmed it was in fact exactly 119V.This power meter is inaccurate and lacks a backlight as advertised. A waste of time and money. Instant return.
