Wow, no more K-cups for us!
My wife had started ordering “pour” coffees when she goes to our local coffee shop, and she has been raving about how much better the coffee tastes. So, she wanted to get a “pour” coffee maker for the house and so I ordered the Tiger Corporation ADF-A06U Pour Over Drip coffee maker. The coffee maker was easy to set up but is not as convenient as a K-Cup maker, but there is no comparison in the taste. Not sure what makes the coffee taste so much better, maybe because the water sits in the coffee grinds for a minute before it drips into the pot. It comes with a detailed instruction manual which was very helpful in brewing our first couple of cups until we got used to it. I would suggest reading the manual thoroughly until you get the hang of brewing a great cup of coffee. The coffee maker is a little pricey but currently they are offering a 20% coupon off the current price. I am very pleased with this pour coffee maker.

Good coffee
Makes a good cup of coffee. Very expensive. Also only stays hot for a short period of time.I use the immersion setting.

Like this machine very much. I just wished I loved it.
I really like this machine and was hoping it would work out. I like the bloom feature and the Immersion feature is pretty cool as well. I would keep this machine without hesitation if the water temp was at the desired temperature for brewing coffee. It comes out at 155 and tops out at 172, a healthy 25-30 degrees to cool for brewing.

An amazing coffee maker
It brews one cup off coffee in minutes. I bought filters one size larger than it says to use because the size wasn’t sold anywhere near me, and they honestly fit perfectly. I love that it can brew multiple cups or one cup at once. My coworkers love it too. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. It’s fairly small and fits almost anywhere you would want it. It’s got some wonderful different settings as well you can choose from. The carafe being glass is the only way to go for a good coffee maker so that’s another thing I like. Super easy to use, and the function that keeps the coffee warm until you’re ready for more is great.Perhaps my only complaint is that water routinely gets trapped under the carafe, and I could see that being a potential issue. But that’s a minor possibility.

Drip the “Japanese” way but coffee not hot enough
The Japanese style drip is a slower way to make coffee, letting the grounds “bloom” and slowly dripping. Pour-over by hand is more difficult as you use a scale and timer to make sure you are going slow enough. So…who has time for that; I like to set up my coffee while I feed the dogs and get my morning brew as they’re busy chomping away. Automation is king… I used to stand over the scale and the Hario set and drip it on, but three dogs and a busy schedule mean I don’t have time.So this pot can be set to brew Rich (Hot / Hybrid Brew), Strong (Hot / Drip Brew), and Iced (Iced / Hybrid Brew) The carafe is small but said to hold “six cups.” They mean six demitasse Euro-style cups. Not big American 12 oz mugs. It makes one big mug, let’s be clear on that. Or you are sharing two six oz cups and hastily brewing a second pot.The set comes with a filter unit, a base unit, a cover surrounding the heating plate and a glass carafe plus 2 Tbs measuring spoon. It does NOT come with any filters or a lid for the carafe. Anyway you’re just going to pour it all out (into six demitasse or into one humongous mug.)It takes #3 conical (pointy) filters or can use 103 flat bottom filters if you crease the bottom and the seam. It may fit the Chemex square filters as well.RESULTS:A rich cup of coffee. I made two batches; a six cup batch (made two large mugs) and 2 cups (made 2/3 a large mug.) The hot plate doesn’t seem to keep the coffee very warm if at all. And the coffee comes out only moderately hot; put milk in it and it’s barely lukewarmThe unit info says warming ends 30 minutes after extraction. And it doesn’t seem very warm–a good thing in a way as overwarming cooks any coffee and ruins the taste. The Balmuda competitor doesn’t warm at all but the carafe is insulated. An insulated carafe as an option would have been good; the idea is that the clear filter and clear carafe is adding to the beauty of brewing the coffee. It is attractive, I’ll grant that. And the brew on immersion setting was rich and had a great flavor. This unit is meant to compete with the splashy Balmuda (also Japanese) for doing hybrid pour-over. At a far lower entry point but still will seem a bit rich compared to your Mister Cawfee. I will say having tried Japanese automated hybrid pour-over as a method of brewing, I am smitten. It is really a great cup and since I drink only one 12 oz brew a day (before noon) I like a GOOD cup.So if you’ve been longing to try this method, this is a fine alternative at a third of the entry point. Oh, it also has the slim footprint that barely takes up any counter space. Japanese kitchens (and New York City and San Francisco kitchens) are very small.

Needs some experimentation but good. I WAS WRONG
I have some froiends who are absolute devotee’s ofpour-over coffee but I have no interest in all the hassle. This makes setup no more difficult than an automatic drip coffeemaker, but it does all the funky timing and rigamarole associated with it. One button press. No hassle.I hope it stands up to time!UPDATE, 3/2025 Only lasted 5 months and then died. Taking it down to 2 stars. One warning, the recommendation in the manual for the amount of coffee to use is, uh, enthusiastic! The coffee is almost undrinkably strong. I use about half as much as it suggests and that’s more realistic. Your mileage may vary and be prepared to experiment a bit. Also, don’t try to get by with non-cone filters. The others tend to fold over and you get an amazing amount of grounds in the carafe. USE CONE FILTERS!!!
