Good cost and does the job
good find, will warn you on your phone but also has a loud alarm if water comes in contact with it. It also lets you know if the batteries are low and need to be replaced

    Peace of mind
I have about 8 of these throughout the house. I tested them all in water and they work fine. Very loud alarms. Just peace of mind and not having to check under sinks and behind toilets.

    Good detector
Bought this after discovered a leak under my kitech sink, tested as instruction suggested and placed under, hopefully will catch leak in time. One cavet is that its not super clear whether the system is active or off, there is no led or any other indication other than initial beeping, so kinda of confusing. But other than that, it will beep when in contact with water.

    Best I have used
This is the best, most feature packed unit I have seen. It is very sensitive and loud with a modulated screech that is difficult not to hear. It has a “test” button that will also mute the device. It has sensors to detect rising puddles and also drips. The device is well made and fairly heavy, but it will probably float, although I have not tested it. If you have an occasional water problem, this is a great tool to alert you to it.

    Flood warning
My step in shower has a curtain as opposed to a glass door. The lip you step over isn’t very deep so I have to be really careful to make sure that the liner curtain is inside the lip. Not fun to step out of the shower onto a flooded floor. Because that has happened more than once 😬 I decided to put one of these right outside of the shower so I will be alerted if water is hitting the floor and I can remedy the situation sooner than waiting till the end of my shower and not knowing until I get out. Fortunately it has not happened since I bought this, but I tested it in a shallow bowl of water and it worked fine. I like that you can control the volume of the alarm because I don’t need it to be extremely loud when I’m a foot away from it.

The leak detector is activated by a long press on the test button of around 10s which will produce a single short beep, to turn it off, repeat the process.Once the unit is on, each short press of around 3s will change the volume. The unit starts off at the highest volume, which is indicated by 4 short beeps and gradually reduces to the lowest volume, indicated by a single beep, then cycles back to the highest volume on the next 3s button press. The highest volume setting was heard in every corner of the house. The metal sensors on the base of the unit sit about 1mm off the floor, so they will only detect water that settles in a pool. If you have chipboard flooring, which acts like a giant sponge, this will be a problem. I got around this problem by placing kitchen towel underneath the sensor. The drip sensor works well, but a single drop of water stays where it lands, it does not migrate towards the metal contacts. The video illustrates that the sensor wasn’t activated by water sitting on the kitchen bench, but was activated if the water collected in a pool to a depth of 1mm or above, as in the plastic lid. It also illustrated how well kitchen roll works to detect even the smallest amount of water.I was going to place these underneath the shower or bath, but then I decided that although these items can leak, they do not cause floods. So I have placed one underneath each toilet upstairs, where I have experienced sudden and unexpected water leaking from the inlet pipe in the past and I will put the other one behind the washing machine, which is a high risk item for leaks due to vibration when spin drying clothes.I tried to measure the current taken from the unit when idle but it was too low to register on my meter, so the batteries should last a very long time. My only concern would be whether the batteries are of sufficient quality that they won’t start to leak.I like the fact that these units come with the bases not closed shut and that plastic guitar picks are provided for the time when you need to replace the batteries.

I didn’t know that this sort of product existed for a domestic setting until it was too late.My dishwasher gave up the ghost and the main seal just allowed a full load of water to escape. One laminate floor replacement later I now have one of these sensors under the kickboards next to the dishwasher, one in the utility room with the washer and one under the shower kick tray. These work with either the bottom probes to sense pooling water or 2 drip probes which can detect dripping pipes. The batteries are included and the sensors are the size of a petite smoke detector than many homes have (or should have). The alarm is definitely loud enough to get your attention, the flashing lights would probably help but all mine are hidden so the volume is great for me.I would recommend anyone to get something like this for their home, I am £2.5k down now because I didn’t react to a leak in time.

I recently installed the TECKNET Water Leak Detectors in my home, and I must say, they’ve added a layer of security I didn’t realise I was missing. These little gadgets are like having miniature, waterproof watchdogs guarding against potential floods.Right out of the box, I was impressed with the build quality. They feel sturdy and well-made, which is reassuring given their purpose. The fact that they came with batteries was a nice touch – no scrambling around for AAs before I could set them up.Placing them around the house was a breeze due to their compact size. I’ve got one under the kitchen sink, another near the washing machine, and the third in the bathroom – all prime spots for potential leaks. Their discreet design means they blend in seamlessly with their surroundings. When it comes to performance, these detectors don’t mess about. I tested them with a few drops of water, and the alarm went off immediately. At 120dB, it’s loud enough to wake the dead – or at least alert you from anywhere in the house. The IP66 waterproof rating gives me confidence that they’ll keep working even in damp conditions. One minor gripe is the sensitivity. While they’re great at detecting puddles, they sometimes struggle with very small amounts of water. It’s not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of.The lack of smart functionality is noticeable, especially if you’re away from home often. An app notification would be a fantastic addition, but I suppose that’s asking a lot at this price point.Overall, these TECKNET Water Leak Detectors offer solid peace of mind for a reasonable price. They’re not perfect, but they do their job well. If you’re looking for an affordable way to protect your home from water damage, these little sentinels are worth considering. Just remember, they’re more ‘smoke signal’ than ‘text message’ when it comes to alerts!

I got a pack of two of these to use under the sink in the kitchen also under the toilet in the bathroom and the third under my central heating boiler in the airing cupboard. The pack of three comes complete with 6 AAA batteries ( 2 in each) and some triangle tools to prise open the base so you can insert the batteries. They work well but bear in mind they must lay FLAT for the prongs to pick up dampness, but you can’t have it directly under a potential leak as it’s NOT waterproof, only the base part is.it certainly works during testing with my hands but also putting in a sink and making the water drip a little, it eventually once 2 or 3 prongs are wet, and the sound is immediately stopped by removing it out of the “puddle” and starts again when put back in.This means it works perfectly as intended, but I wish there was a design where the “siren” had a waterproof mesh or the sound came out of the side instead of the top – because if water gets in the top, it will stop it it working as water will get into the electronics and battery.

These TECKNET Water Leak Detectors are incredibly loud—so much so that I’d recommend covering the alarm area with your hand when installing the batteries and testing them. I tested the first one without covering the alarm so, got the full volume and ringing ears. I learned my lesson for the next two!Why They’re Worth Having➤ Very loud alarm (120dB) – If a leak occurs, you will hear it. The sound is so piercing that you’ll want to be careful during setup and testing.➤ Two detection methods – These sensors detect leaks from two sources:➝ Bottom probes trigger if water pools underneath.➝ Drip sensor on top can be positioned to catch drips from pipes, joints, or appliances before they cause hidden damage.➤ Great peace of mind – Having previously missed a slow leak under the kitchen sink until it had already damaged the cabinet, I see these as great value safeguards for areas you don’t check often.➤ Versatile placement – I’ve placed mine in the kitchen, cloakroom, and bathroom. While I haven’t had a real leak and hopefully won’t, they’ve triggered reliably in tests.➤ Good build quality and battery life – The units feel sturdy, and with AAA batteries included, they should last around two years before needing replacements.Final ThoughtsThese are simple but very effective. They won’t alert you via an app, but if you need a straightforward, loud warning system for leaks in areas you don’t regularly check, they’re an excellent, affordable option.
