Slower than claimed
Slower than claimed. It claims a write speed of up to 5800 MB/s when connected to a Thunderbolt 4 port, but I only averaged approximately 500 MB/s when connected to the Thunderbolt 4 port my Dell Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250 laptop.UPDATE: ORICO quickly responded to my review and provided useful suggestions, one of which improved speed, but still not to the advertised speed. However, they offered to refund 90% of the price I paid, and let me keep the drive. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

Industrial-grade enclosure disguised as portable storage
I’ve been testing the Orico X50 enclosure with 3 different NVME drives spanning as many generations for the last few hours, and after real-world use, large file transfers, and stress testing, this thing has earned its keep. This is, without exaggeration, the heaviest and most solid NVMe enclosure I’ve ever handled. The chassis feels like a milled aluminum brick — dense, rigid, and designed to pull heat evenly through its entire body. The underside has proper finning and rubber feet to keep it stable and let it breathe and with great fitment to chassis across the entire contact section. The top surface has a fine mesh texture that essentially negates fingerprints while adding some grip. It’s a clean, no-nonsense industrial design that looks and feels like pro gear.I didn’t chase synthetic maximums, but in real-world transfers, it behaves exactly like an internal installation. Copying 50 GB of ISO images felt completely local, with no stutter, no disconnects, and no sign of thermal throttling. Even under 64 GiB sustained tests, read and write speeds stayed consistent at near maximums per drive, which means the link was rock solid the entire time. The enclosure warms up evenly across the whole shell, which is exactly what you hope for. The even temperature distribution shows that it’s dissipating heat efficiently through the full chassis instead of cooking one hotspot near the controller. It never got uncomfortably hot, just a steady “warm metal” feel that tells you it’s doing its job as a passive heat sink. It feels heavy in the hand, and all that weight is going to good use here. The overall consistency in construction and performance is honestly just impressive. The chassis feels and acts exactly how I would expect a premium product to, and the minimal aesthetics are just the cherry on top.

quality Thunderbolt 5 SSD enclosure
This is an incredibly nice m.2 ssd enclosure. Its fast, reliable, and portable enough to throw into a bag. Nice size and performance. Full metal construction dissipates heat with ease. Extremely durable. Great value for what you’re getting. This is a very nice product.

Altísima velocidad de transferencia de datos. Una lástima que este tipo de dispositivos sean tan caros.
