Performance is outstanding, setup was somewhat annoying
I’m going to start with the good news…this thing really performs. I upgraded from a Linksys AC1750 that was going on 5 or 6 years old. It had always been rock solid (not a single outage in all those years) but I had a feeling I wasn’t get the speeds I should have been, boy was I correct. I recently upgraded my FIOS internet from a 100 to a 500 Gbps plan because I have two sons and both are now using tablets, etc. Plus I have a high end gaming PC and we have three TVs in the house streaming 4k, in addition to other devices. After the FIOS plan upgrade I ran a speed test from my PC and was getting about 340 gbps download and upload speeds. However, after I upgraded to this router…520 gbps download and upload! On top of that the range of the 5G network is way bigger than it was, probably triple the area. One of the other main reasons I wanted to upgrade to this router is so I have better coverage in my back yard in the summer. This thing covers my entire house and most of my yard – front and back. I am extremely happy with the performance. Now lets discuss the initial setup…First off, I got it done and it only took me a total of about 15 minutes. But there were some annoyances that I want to share with others. When you first start the setup and open the app it tells you to scan the QR code on the router. Mine didn’t have any QR code on it. That was number 1. I checked the box too, no QR codes anywhere. So I had to do it manually. Not a big deal for me, however…when you select to do it manually in the app it takes you out of the app into your phone’s settings to connect to the router network (NETGEAR** and the password is written on the bottom of the router). It also says that after you connect to go back into the Nighthawk app to continue setup. OK, so I connected to the router manually (which worked fine) but then wasn’t able to go back into the app because the app was still directed to my phone’s settings to connect to WIFI. Nothing was happening, so had to close everything and re-launch the app, which then started the process over again. Finally after 3 tries, the app recognized that I had connected to the router and continued with the setup process. Then, the router needed a firmware update. During that update I got an error message saying that it couldn’t find the router, but the firmware update finished successfully anyway. Then I had to re-connect my phone to the router (again) manually to move to the final step in the setup. All in all the setup completed correctly but as you can see there were some hiccups. As stated it only took me 15 minutes or so but probably should have taken less than 5. I am being nick picky here but I remember setting up the Linksys router and it went very smoothly and quickly. Not really a big deal though and now that its done it never has to be done again. Given the performance I am getting from it, I don’t really care. Hence the five star review. The only thing remaining is to find out how well this stays connected over the years. After how extremely well my Linksys performed I have very high expectations. We’ll see…this review may change.

We are really pleased with this router!
The NightHawk 6 Stream AX5400 WiFi 6 router is a powerful and feature-rich networking solution that caters to the demands of modern homes and businesses. Here’s a review:The NightHawk AX5400 router impresses with its cutting-edge WiFi 6 technology, promising faster and more reliable wireless connections for all your devices. The AX5400 rating suggests combined speeds of up to 5,400 Mbps, making it suitable for bandwidth-intensive activities like 4K streaming, online gaming, and simultaneous use by multiple devices.Setup is relatively straightforward, thanks to the Nighthawk app, which guides users through the installation process, including network configuration and firmware updates. This user-friendly approach ensures that even those less tech-savvy can get the router up and running without much hassle. One of the standout features of this router is its robust performance in handling multiple devices. With a 1.5 GHz triple-core processor and support for MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies, it can efficiently manage numerous devices connected simultaneously without sacrificing speed or stability. The router’s four high-performance external antennas and Beamforming+ technology help extend WiFi coverage throughout your home or office, reducing dead zones and ensuring a strong signal even in larger spaces.Another noteworthy feature is the inclusion of advanced security measures, such as WPA3 encryption and the option to set up a guest network. These features help keep your network secure and protect your privacy. However, the AX5400 router does come at a premium price, which might be a consideration for budget-conscious consumers. Additionally, the design, while modern and sleek, may not be to everyone’s aesthetic taste. In summary, the NightHawk 6 Stream AX5400 WiFi 6 router is a top-tier networking solution that offers impressive speeds, efficient device management, and strong security features. While it might be a bit pricey for some, it delivers on its promises of providing a fast and reliable wireless network for all your connectivity needs. If you’re looking to future-proof your home network, this router is a solid investment.

    Great Router!
I rarely leave positive reviews unless I’m really impressed. I had another router off Amazon that was ~$80, and it seemed slightly worse than the standard one from Spectrum. My router is in the corner of my lower level (bi-level home) and I have cameras and devices at the opposite end of a long-ish house. Whenever things would want to load, they were slow or choppy video quality. We have a detached garage ~100′ from the house that we are finishing that I want WiFi to reach for cameras and maybe a TV.I bought this and installed it yesterday. I have a computer degree and didn’t read the instructions and just tried to wing setup in the middle of working from home and it went bad for 2 or 3 hours. It’s very simple just follow the little install sheet. With it installed and running, day and night difference. All cameras load instantly and are clear. Almost no delays on TVs. And I have 4/5 bars at the back garage. Never thought I would be so impressed with the thing. App is pretty nice and easy to use as well. I was lucky enough to get it at $150 which is even lower than the 4200 which is the next step down, putting the next level 6600 at $80 more.Even at normal price, I highly recommend this thing!
