Great 2K camera with discreet night vision and long local storage
I am very happy with this Lorex 2K smart lightbulb camera. The 2K resolution is noticeably sharper than standard 1080p, and you can choose between 720, 1080, or 2K in the settings. You do not need a subscription, and if you insert a micro SD card (up to 256 GB), you can record continuously 24/7. With a 256 GB card, my calculations show it should store around 23 days of 2K footage, which is excellent for local storage.The motion detection is one of my favorite features. The recordings start a second or two before the event, so you actually see the full activity instead of missing the beginning like with some other cameras. The night vision is also very good and uses infrared light that is invisible to the naked eye, so there is no red glow drawing attention to the camera in the dark.The only real downside for me is the app for multiple people in the same household. Right now, it seems that only one person can use it unless the second person creates their own Lorex Home account and is added as a “shared user.” It works, but it is not as simple as just logging into the same account on two phones.The operating temperature range is also a plus. The camera is rated to work in outdoor conditions from roughly -4°F up to 122°F, which covers typical winter and summer temperatures in most climates.The pan range is very good as well. The camera sits on a motorized base that can pan a full 360 degrees horizontally, so you can rotate the view all the way around from the app for much better coverage.

Must use Lorex Classic app for setup. Works better than expected with clear 2k video. Lorex Connect app must be updated before it becomes functional. You might need a light socket extender if it used in an enclosure. LED light brightness can be adjusted and scheduled from dusk to dawn. Can be used as a stand alone camera with micro sd card for storage. No NVR/DVR required.

Will not stay connected to WiFi!!!
I am on my third one of these and none of them will stay connected to internet. It has a full signal as my router is only a few feet away from the camera but it doesn’t seem to matter. I even put an WiFi extender about three inches away from the camera It refuses to stay connected! Truly awful!

Not great as a security camera.
Easy to install, however, the app is not easy to use, and controlling the camera is not intuitive or easy to set to desired parameters. The available tools leave the camera in a default position that does not capture movement, so it is not recording any movement at the site. The camera can be moved manually to look around, but it is not clear in the app how to manage the camera for security. The clarity is good, and the remote control is helpful.

Pesky at first
This has been invaluable to my peace of mind being away from home. It took quite a few tries to connect but eventually it did and it has stayed consistent til now. The app is awesome too. Didn’t have a need for play back yet but there is an option for that. It has sound detection above a certain decibel so that works for places inside my home that are out of view. It also has a privacy mode which is awesome. It was super easy to install even for this gal with 2 left hands haha. I tried the paste and stick stuff and it didn’t hold long so I used the metal plate and screed in my two holes and it was on the wall… just use a plug for safe measure if you’re installing on drywall with no weight support like a stud behind. The best of that though is the camera itself is magnetic so it just attaches very securely to that plate… omg the best thing since sliced bread lol. Highly recommended it. I’m a Lorex gal. I hate all the individual apps but they are reliant and good quality. I have the outdoor cams form Lorex and they are fantastic!!!!

I actually use this camera inside, attached above the window on the non-opening patio door, for deck and backyard monitoring. Because the door is metal, I just placed the magnetic base of the camera at the top of the door, point the camera to look down through the window and click “image rotation” in the app settings to rotate the feed 180 degrees for a right side up picture. No drilling necessary. Quite easy to set up even for someone not very tech savvy.I turned off the infra red night vision as the window would interfere. You’ll need good outside lighting to pick up anything at night. If you’re using it to view inside a room, simply turn that feature back on.For my needs, it is a terrific little camera. The picture quality is very good. The micro sd card that comes with it means I don’t have to pay for cloud storage. The notification time is not bad and you can adjust sensitivity and monitoring area to your liking. The one downside of the camera is the audio (broken up and tinny) so if that’s an important factor for you, look elsewhere. It wasn’t a factor for me so I love this inexpensive little security camera.

We bought it for cottage’s kitchen to monitor winter temperatures inside of the cottage when we away. Thermometer placed across the camera in close proximity. In case of power outage we can see temperatures drops we will come to start on generator. At the same time we can see everything else. Everything depends on distance. Night vision is OK but not like day time.

The product works great easy to instal and connect to the internet. Best part no ongoing monthly subscription required. Memory card provided has about a three day recording memory but can be easily upgrade to a longer period by replacing it with a larger memory
