As a HomeKit user, I was also disappointed that the sensors don’t show up in a useful way—they feel like an afterthought. Ecobee seems half-committed to the HomeKit ecosystem, which leads to a frustrating user experience. Great brand overall, but for cameras and sensors, I’d look elsewhere.

DON”T BUY! I really wanted this product to work, as I already have an Ecobee Thermostat, which I “used to love”. 1. The follow me feature only works 70-80% of the time. The main selling feature of their product is “no keypad”, it is supposed to follow your phone and arm or disarm based on your location. It only works sometimes. Even after removing it from my home, I still get “motion notifications” LOL. 2. Customer service is nonexistent. Prepare to wait 30-45 minutes. Email response time is 4-5 days at best. 3. Return policy. Beware, 30 day period starts on the date of purchase, not the date of receipt. So if you purchased it over the holidays and had shipping delays that is on you, not them. If you had a COVID related delay in installing it (or other delay), that is on you too. Their 30 day policy has no exceptions: “To confirm, our return period does not have any leeway or ability to make active changes to” this was from customer service, after 5 days. 4. There only suggestion was to give it to someone or sell it, even though it does not work. The security equipment/monitoring space is very crowded. There are much better products and companies out there. Ecobee just slashed pricing on their security products, so you be the judge of why, I doubt it is because they are nice guys! Sad, because of this, I will probably “sell or give away” my thermostat as well.

Great for keeping the kids safe
I have two young kids who love to live a little wrecklessly, so the camera and door sensors are awesome for keeping an eye on them when they’re out of my view. We have a playroom that has an exterior door and is on the opposite end of the house from our kitchen/bathroom area. So, it’s nice to be able to check in on them with the camera if it’s a little too noise or a little TOO quiet. We use this with our Apple Home app and it’s great! So we can control lights, temperature, cameras and door/motion sensors all in one place though we use different brands for our thermostat and lights.
